The crisis at the southern border under President Trump had gotten better since 2016 when it was worse than any point in history until today. The Biden administration canceled President Trump's 'Remain in Mexico' policy, where immigrants waited their turn for asylum or legal status there, and clearly stopped enforcing border laws. That must be corrected and Congress has proven, regardless of party in power, they do not have the courage to do what is necessary! However, President Trump, in building the 'border wall' and making unapproved immigrants wait outside the country until their asylum claim is heard in court helped substantially in 2020. But, when Joe Biden campaigned on 'open borders', and when elected implemented an 'open border' policy by not enforcing US immigration laws, the Texas border is now a disaster, along with crisis in New Mexico, Arizona and California ! Also, our Canadian border has now also become popular and that must be addressed along with our Mexican border. Now, with President Trump back in charge, After only 2+ weeks in office, things have gotten measurably better at the southern border and I believe things will continue to change dramatically, including President Trump's vow to deport most of the people in our country illegally, starting with the worst of them. I believe that we can reasonably deport about 1.4 million immigrants per year.

This crisis has expanded rapidly due to many factors, such as 1) the reckless neglect to enforce our existing immigration laws 2) Cities and States providing sanctuary for illegal immigrants 3) employers welcoming the immigrants and provided employment to them in spite of current law 4) courts handing down rulings that can't be met 5) the immigrant makeup has changed, previously it was 'families' flooding across our southern border after being coached on how to ask for asylum with children (maybe not even their own) once they cross the border as well as many 'gottaways' that don't get caught or turn themselves in, so who the hell knows who is coming into our country? Now, the majority are single males 6) Once they get in the US they are provided assistance for food, shelter, medical, schools, drivers licenses, etc. 7) Biden seems to refuse to deport anyone. We have about 1.4 MM illegals currently under deportation orders and over 13,000 in prison for felonies. ...and our Customs and Border Enforcement personnel had no choice under Biden's policies but to release almost everyone apprehended. I believe that will change under President Trump and Tom Homan.

Congratulations to President Trump and his Team for devising and implementing the 'first country' asylum program during his 1st term which requires immigrants wanting asylum in the US to file in the first 'safe country' they cross into. For central American immigrants arriving at our southern border, getting Mexico and Guatemala to agree to be 'safe countries' and allow immigrants from a neighboring country to stay in their country while filing for asylum in the US, hopefully the masses at the southern border will recede and we can approve or deny asylum claims before immigrants reach the US border. We hope the new Mexican President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, will step up efforts to keep immigrants out of Mexico's southern border and increase her effort to greatly enforce no crossings at the US-Mexico border. Unfortunately, President Biden, and his Border Czar, VP Kamala Harris, dismantled the whole program Trump started. We now have people from over 150 countries rushing our border, and the US government has done nothing about it for 4 years. It really appears that law and order has fallen apart at southern, and now, northern borders. Who knows how many have no basic immunization vaccinations (MMR, etc.). How many are from terrorist dominated countries that mean harm to us? Hell, NO ONE KNOWS!!! .

It is far past time to get this charade over. Congress must do what is necessary to help this issue. Under Biden, it got so bad that Texas Gov Abbott had to temporarily redesignate National Guard troops to the Texas Rio Grande border. The President could do this more easily by temporarily reassigning 25,000 troops into the Coast Guard from other branch's of military service. The Coast Guard is not covered by the 'Posse Comitatus' laws and the Coast Guard already reports to Homeland Security and patrols the Rio Grande river. The Coast Guard would be used to stop the invaders. The Coast Guard would also immediately begin recruiting and hiring new troops so, over time, the reassigned troops would be returned to service in the Army as new these Coast Guard replacements are hired and trained. The expanded Coast Guard troops, would be placed every 5 miles along the border, with 50' tall 'lookout towers' at each dry land location and in areas along navigable parts of the Rio Grande River. Each 5 mile segment of water or land border would be initially assigned 10 drones to continuously have 2 up in the air flying up and down the border as well as having 50 of the troops in comfortable compounds at each sector. The goal is to deter the invaders BEFORE they cross the border.

If the 'around the clock drones and spotters' on these towers and with 24/7 drones up continuously detect a group approaching within 1,000 yards from the border in their sector, they would immediately dispatch troops from the compound to the border line and interdict the potential illegal immigrants on land or the river before they can step foot on US soil. It would be ideal for each compound to have 2 vehicle mounted 'Active Denial System's' 'Heat-Ray Weapon' (which briefly heats the intruder's skin and repels them safely, as demonstrated in a field trial on a group of reporters recently) either on land vehicles or boats depending on the location. These can be deployed quickly and directed at the group before they reach the border line and turn them back. Walls will help in places once they get built, but this enhanced Coast Guard staffing interdiction strategy will work almost immediately, and the 'Active Denial System's' can be built and deployed much faster than the wall can be built. Drones could be used as early warnings for the spotters, by expanding the range of early detection.

When the illegal immigrants are interdicted BEFORE they set foot on US soil, the detention issues of the laws and courts never come into play. So, rather than having to expand the personnel and resources to deal with the illegal immigrants that set foot on US soil, and then the government having to detain them, house them, give them medical care, have courts for them, worry that they don't show for future hearing and clog the system with false asylum claims, etc. the President, as Commander and Chief, must provide the resources for stopping them BEFORE they can cross the border. The cost will be much lower than current costs than the nightmare and chaos that currently exists.

It is expected that 6 to 12 months after this 'new interdiction strategy' has successfully been in place, the Coast Guard troop strength could be reduced to about 10,000, or about 20 troops per compound. This reduction would be able to occur because the illegal immigrants, the drug traffickers and the human smugglers determine that the US is no longer easily invaded, the number and size of the groups will fall dramatically. As effective barriers are constructed and other technologies employed, it may be possible to reduce the overall number of compounds along the border. The ultimate bottom line goal, is interdiction before these invaders cross the border illegally. At that point, immigration should occur only at designated 'Points of Entry' with those who have applied for asylum filing paperwork in Mexico BEFORE coming in. More personnel will be hired to process these immigrant applications and they will be processed as soon as possible, with alleged asylum seeks waiting in Mexico or Guatemala, or Canada until a determination is made.
