We suggest to President Trump that the EPA should be eliminated or at least greatly downsized and moved under the revised
Interior Department. Every State has their own environmental regulatory program and the federal program should only be an
'oversight program'. Now is a perfect time to have the EPA end being a policy driving group who continued to push for more
restrictive rules on business. Mr. Trump has been working to change this and by selecting Lee Zeldin as Director he has appointed
someone who has his permission to downsize the agency and back off on some of the newly, unlegislated, rules put in place
by the Obama and Biden administrations. The new Oversite role can easily be implemented during this next 4 years. And, there
should be a select group to analyze and review each regulation and regulatory interpretation implemented during the entire
Obama/Biden Administrations. Also:
– Ease
current air restrictions on the power industry, particularly coal
– Water, Wastewater, Air, and Waste Regulations be frozen for
5 years
– There will be no 'carbon tax', no 'Cap and Trade'
– Focus shifts to rigorous enforcement of the current regulations
• First Targets
will be ‘non-attainment’ areas for air and water
• Stepped up inspection
of timely filing of required accurate environmental reports
• Stepped up state
support for inspection of compliance with permits and regulations by the largest air, water and waste generating companies,
prioritized by quantity generated for 5 years
We
do not need new regulations or further restrictions on coal, oil and gas drilling or new
'clean energy' subsidies! In many cases we need loosened rules.....Hopefully, Director Zeldin will put in place a path for
elimination of the EPA as we now know it and redesign the function into one of 'over sight' of State environmental programs
and with a revised federal environmental code as a framework of measurement.
